Exciting New Job Opportunities with WonderZoo!

We are proud to announce that we have been awarded £82K from National Lottery Heritage Fund to supervise a new history project called ‘Hidden Figures of Plymouth’.

The project aims to highlight hidden figures of Plymouth, past and present, and bring this information into educational and community settings, so that people can gain a better understanding of all the amazing people from global majority or marginalised backgrounds that have been linked to Plymouth. Figures from history include Bill and Claude Miller, Cora Pearl, Ann Wilkinson and Jack Leslie.

This will be a two year project running from February 2023 to February 2024. There are two part-time roles that we are recruiting for: Project Leader and Admin Assistant.

The project leader will run the project with support from the admin assistant and weekly supervision from WonderZoo.

The outcomes of the project include creating an information booklet, researching past figures, conducting oral history interviews with current living figures, leading history walks in Plymouth, running workshops, giving talks, and engaging with the community. By the end of the project, we hope to help form a new independent group in Plymouth that promotes diverse history.

If you’re passionate about researching and sharing diverse history, this could be a great opportunity for you.
