WonderZoo Community Events 

 

Art Club with Music and Games   

Hosted by Slain and Emma with support from Mindful Art Club at The Plot on Union Street, meets every other Wednesday, from 7:30 to 10:00 pm. It’s a welcoming, laid-back space for self-directed art-making, games and music. We provide the art supplies, food and drinks—all free—and make use of recycled and reused materials wherever possible.

Art Club also pops up at seasonal local events, including collaborations with Theatre Royal Plymouth’s Scene Dock Festival,National Marine Aquarium and Union Street Party. These sessions champion eco-conscious creativity, with participants making group murals and themed paper art from upcycled and sustainable materials.

Brunch Talks 

​

Our monthly daytime gatherings combine creative discussion with community outreach. Each event features an interactive workshop and a Q&A with a guest creator or historian, followed by a free vegetarian meal. It’s a chance to share ideas, meet new people and build friendships.

Social inclusion, reducing isolation, supporting mental health, strengthening community and challenging discrimination are at the heart of everything WonderZoo does.

WonderZoo has been supported by Nudge Community Builders, Plymouth Scrapstore, Plymouth University and Oasis Food Bank over the last five years. We’re grateful for this support and want to do even more for our communities. Alongside the above, we’ve made zines, hosted Christmas meals, Christmas parties, quiz nights, film nights and community birthday parties, led history and alternative walks, and created board games.
