National Marine Aquarium

A Day of Celebration, Creativity, and Community

In late August, the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth hosted an unforgettable day with WonderZoo filled with fun, learning, and community spirit. The event featured lively music by Jackie Wacha, bringing the short play "The Sea Person and the Island Friends" to life, with energetic performances by Slain M Davey as the mad fog, adding humour and excitement. Maile Mia Heart’s heartfelt script offered deep yet amusing insights about our planet, inspiring everyone to protect our waters. Her sea-themed acting as a wave creation beautifully portrayed the sea and its importance.

Over 200 children participated in crafting island and sea-themed artwork, learning ways to help keep our oceans healthy. Emma Sprawson led a delightful art workshop that brought families together to celebrate and care for our seas. More than 200 kids, mums, and dads joined in, creating a warm, welcoming community atmosphere.

The day was a true celebration of island life, our planet, and the seas. The staff at the Marine Aquarium were incredibly supportive, kind, and caring, making the event even more special. It was a heartfelt gathering that emphasized the importance of community, conservation, and connection to our oceans.
