Summer at the Scene Dock 2025 — with WonderZoo

Throughout August, Theatre Royal Plymouth transformed its outdoor production yard at the rear of the theatre into “Summer in the Scene Dock”—a lively, family-friendly festival filled with events and entertainment throughout the day and evening.

WonderZoo was delighted to contribute two events to the programme.

“You Can’t Make It Up” — 22 August

WonderZoo presented an experimental performance exploring freedom through four daring pieces of quirky spoken word and live drums. Featuring WonderZoo Slain, Lorna McTavish (“Black Fire Horse Woman”) and Maile Mia Heart, the performance took audiences on a journey through truth, madness, life and pop culture, celebrating unity and peace. The event also included an introductory collage workshop.

Recycled Collage Art Workshop — 29 August

Facilitated by WonderZoo creators Slain McGough Davey and Maile Mia Heart, this free, eco-friendly community workshop invited participants to make collaborative art using discarded materials such as paper, fabric and found objects. Together, they explored themes of freedom and colour.

We had a wonderful time being part of a festival that brought people together for live music, quiz nights, DJ sets, theatre, cabaret, workshops, roaming performers, food and much more.
